Trivia suggestion

Mercy's primary and secondary weapons: the Caduceus Staff and Caduceus Blaster have improper names. They reference the caduceus, which is not a symbol of medicine. I believe the original intention would be to reference the Rod of Asclepius which is commonly mistaken as the caduceus. This would be great under the trivia section! Historical tidbits and a possible change of the incorrect names!

I think it's referring to the Caduceus Reactor from Starcraft. You could argue that that reference in turn is misguided, but that should be posted on the Starcraft wiki.

Go ahead. You don't need to make a talk page for something like this. Lightning laxus (talk) 03:00, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

Health/Shields

Also, the mention of helth regeneation of a passive is misleading as her health regeneration is the reult of having her health comprised of shields, and like any other hero with shields the portion of their health comprised of shields regenerates.

Mercy doesn't have shields, and her health regenerates at a different pace than shields do. -- Fuzzlepuzzle (talk)

The Genji x Mercy Trivia

The evidence for it no longer exists as a page, find a new source or remove it pls.

This is the source. I removed it anyway, since it's speculation. We can put the dialogue on their quote pages when the Valentine voice lines are released and let people draw their own conclusions. --Fuzzlepuzzle (talk) 09:48, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Questioning Mercy's nationality

Is there any citation for Mercy's nationality? It seems like it was just presumed, but one could easily presume shes German, and simply has Switzerland as her base of operations considering her name Ziegler, and the fact that she appears to speak Hochdeutsch, not Swiss German. -LastTalon (talk) • (contribs) 18:19, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

Hmm... I think the only evidence that she's Swiss instead of German are a tiny little Swiss flag on her armor, and one of her sprays named "Swiss". Not much, but I think it's enough to confirm that's what they were going for. Fuzzlepuzzle (talk) 19:04, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
This could just as well be that she does medical work out of Switzerland though. -LastTalon (talk) • (contribs) 19:15, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
Seems pretty unintuitive to have national pride for the country you work in, not the country you're from. I don't see Blizzard trying to create that sort of subtle nuance with a spray. Fuzzlepuzzle (talk) 19:18, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
I think it would be equally as strange for them to have her speak Hochdeutsch if shes Swiss. -LastTalon (talk) • (contribs) 19:26, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
I wouldn't treat VO as a very reliable source. One could make the same argument that Lúcio isn't Brazilian because he has New York accent and doesn't say a word in Portuguese, except for the fact that his story makes it quite evident that he's Brazilian regardless of his BoO. One could argue that Roadhog isn't Australian because he doesn't speak with an Australian accent like Junkrat does. Same goes for Pharah, Reinhardt, Symmetra or Torbjörn, who don't say a word in their respective native languages, and just are given some random accents to make'em sound foreign.
And, on top of that, Mercy's actually been re-cast before. She used to sound like a middle-aged woman with a Reinhardt accent. You can still hear the old VO in "We are Overwatch" trailer.
So, at the end of the day, I think her BoO and Swiss flag on her suit are the only clues to her nationality that are reliable enough. I do believe that it could change, as her nationality isn't explicitly pointed out in her bio like for other characters such as Lúcio, Symmetra or Zarya. There could be something like, for example, that she was born in Germany, but after her parents died she was adopted by a Swiss family. Or, even simpler, she's just one out of the 23% of Zürich's current populace that actually speaks Standard German. Or that by the time of the action of the game Swiss Dialect has been extinct. --Krupam (talk)--
Well then clearly the nationality is ambiguous. The case is completely different from those who don't speak in their language, Mercy does speak Hochdeutsch (if someone were in Germany, but speaking Russian you wouldn't expect the person to be German). If the only thing we're going on is the Swiss flag when we know she works in Switzerland and her nationality is ambiguous, then why should we assume her nationality? -LastTalon (talk) • (contribs) 22:22, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
One of Blizzard's writers just confirmed that Mercy is Swiss. :) But I agree that the evidence was pretty flimsy. Personally, I'd prefer for heroes to have the most accurate information we know instead of having no information if we're uncertain, but I see people use wikis as proof even if they aren't cited, so the fear of misleading people is valid. Perhaps, for similar problems in the future, we should give all the evidence we do have, or have a flat out disclaimer? Like "Mercy's nationality is Swiss[1][2] ([1] spray, [2] armor)" or "Mercy's nationality is unknown[1][2][3] ([1] spray, [2] armor, [3] voice actor)" Fuzzlepuzzle (talk) 07:05, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
Well it wasn't so much an issue of accent, but that the language, for all intents and purposes, is a different language (German speaking people cannot understand people speaking Swiss German). But yeah, I think there needs to be a method of citing these things. Just adding citations to the infobox should be fine probably. -LastTalon (talk) • (contribs) 07:32, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
Oh, really? I hadn't heard that, interesting. I try to cite sources for voice actors when I can, so we could cite nationalities too, I suppose. :) I'll feel a little silly giving sources for some heroes, though. "The source for Genji being Japanese is...everythingggg...?" Fuzzlepuzzle (talk) 07:35, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
Perhaps there could be an expandable section of the infobox for citations relating to it. I know its late, just an idea though. -LastTalon (talk) • (contribs) 19:37, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

When will I use her?

So, now that Moira's out, and Mercy's been nerfed again, I am wondering when I would ever use Mercy? I'm being serious here. Moira does significantly more healing output, can fight while healing (whereas Mercy has to make a choice whether to damage buff or heal) and has just as good mobility with her Blink. Mercy can res, once, if no one's looking at her while she takes a couple seconds to pull it off. That single res also can't be someone out past her party, or she'll just die instantly. In her ultimate, she can group heal or group buff, but still not as well as Moira can group buff. And if we're bringing her ult into it, we have to compare that to Moira's ult, which rockets HER group heal through the roof, and allows here to throw out some Offense level damage at the same time. Does anyone who actually plays Mercy feel like there's still a viable chance to use her, or is she the first character to be made useless by new additions?

Correct icon for achievement "Huge Rez" and old ult

I suggest replace current icons for achievement Huge Rez and old ult to correct one (arrow pointing up with wings). I found old icon on Polish Overwatch wiki that I think could be edited:
