A completed Competitive Drive in Season 20

Competitive Drives are short limited-time events that occur over a couple days toward the end of each season.[1] They grant Competitive Points Competitive Points and are the only time you can obtain a Signature. Drive progress can be earned in Competitive Play and Stadium game modes.

Competitive Drives will feature a new Signature every Season but allows players to unlock a new prestige tier for their Signature, indicated by the roman numeral on the Signature. Upon completing a Competitive Drive, a roman numeral will be added or incremented on their Signature. [1]

Drive Meter[]

The Drive meter is located just below the Competitive Progression meter on the evaluation page after each game. It measures how many Drive Points are required until the next checkpoint is reached. It is also displayed in the Role Select menu, above the role options prior to entering a queue. After a game in Competitive Play, the Drive meter would increase or decrease based on the match result.[1]

Wins grant a flat 210 Drive Score and losses deduct Drive Score based on current check point, up to 63. In Stadium, wins grant 265 Drive Score and losses deduct up to 80. Once you complete a checkpoint, you cannot lose Drive Points below that point. Playing in a group grants an additional 50 Drive Score upon wins.

Checkpoints[]

Reaching a checkpoint grants the player Competitive Points, up to Competitive Points 3000 total, or a unique Signature that levels up. Players gain twice that amount of points during seasons that close a Competitive year, up to 6000 total. Players cannot fall below checkpoints once they have been reached.[1] Current checkpoints are as follows:

  • 500 Total Drive Points - Competitive Points 500
  • 1000 Total Drive Points - Signature
  • 1600 Total Drive Points - Competitive Points 1000
  • 2200 Total Drive Points - Advanced Signature
  • 3000 Total Drive Points - Competitive Points 1500
  • 4000 Total Drive Points - Elite Signature

Signatures are unique stylized backing cosmetic for a player's BattleTag. It appears behind a player's BattleTag on the Menu, Scoreboard, Play of the Game and on the user interface in-game. They can only be earned during a Competitive Drives event, and Signatures are reset after every new Competitive Drives event starts.

Upon completing a Competitive Drive, a Signature will prestige and earn a roman numeral. The highest prestige obtainable is prestige 6, indicated by the roman numeral VI, with the 7th prestige unlocking an Insignia and restarting the count. As a Signature is upgraded, additional effects may be added. If it already had a roman numeral, it will increment.
