Deployables are entities produced by hero abilities that, once deployed in a location, stay in the map until destroyed or expired. Most deployables do not count as heroes for the purpose of most game mechanics and are unaffected by most status effects. Any damage or healing dealt to deployables does not grant ultimate charge. All Barriers are considered deployables.
In the advanced information panel, deployables are marked with the following keyword and description:

Details
Some deployables can be hacked by Sombra, either disabling or destroying them. Her Hack can only interact with a select few deployables, whilst her EMP can interact differently and affects most deployables. Indestructible deployables, such as Amplification Matrix and Blizzard, are completely destroyed by her EMP, as well as any Barriers (which are deployables). Tree of Life still takes damage, but is not directly destroyed or negated by EMP. Other deployables completey ingore EMP and Hack, such as Ice Wall and Hyper Ring.
Some deployables can be affected by Burning, depending on the deployable and source of burning. For example, Barriers cannot be ignited by Anran's Ignition or Mauga's Incendiary Chaingun, but can be ignited by Ashe's Dynamite.
Deployables can either be deployed directly or as a projectile.
Directly Deployed
Deployables that are directly deployed can be either instant or require verification. When instant, they will be deployed immediately upon using the ability, which is the case of most Barriers such as Reinhardt's Barrier Field, Brigitte's Barrier Shield and Zarya's Particle Barrier and Projected Barrier, as well as with non-barriers such as Ashe's B.O.B. and Mei's Ice Wall.
Alternatively, they may require verification before deployment, that allow the player to choose where in the environment to place it, such as with Symmetra's Photon Barrier, Lifeweaver's Tree of Life and Mizuki's Kekkai Sanctuary. Typically, the horizontal orientation of the ability can be changed when verifying the placement.
Projectile Deployed
Deployables can also be deployed via a projectile. The type of projectile depends on the ability and its counters varies heavily.
Most deployables deployed this way are from a STRONG PROJECTILEA projectile that cannot be Negated., meaning they cannot be negated by abilities such as Defense Matrix or Kinetic Grasp. This applies to a variety of deployables, such as Torbjörn's Deploy Turret, Symmetra's Sentry Turret, Wrecking Ball's Minefield and Juno's Hyper Ring.
Similarly, some abilities of the projectile-made deployables feature the IGNORE BARRIERNo effects of this ability collide with Barriers or heroes. keyword, meaning they will ignore barriers and heroes during deployment.
The damage from these deployables can, in rare instances, be amplified if the projectile passes through Amplification Matrix, such as with Mei's Blizzard and Junkrat's Concussion Mine, but this is not the standard amongst deployables.

Standard
Most deployables have collision with heroes, and can block projectiles. They will not block line of sight for area of effect abilities, however.
These are clear, destructible deployables with unique health pools separate from the hero. They are not linked to the hero position and, after deployment, apply some sort of damage, healing, effect, or trigger when an enemy interacts with them.

Barriers

Barriers are semi-transparent, semi-permeable deployables that block most types of incoming damage, but do not prevent heroes from crossing. Barriers only affect the opposing team. Some attacks, including all melee attacks pierce barriers. Barriers can also block line of sight for most area of effect and targeted abilities. All barriers can be destroyed by Sombra's EMP.
Every barrier in the game is a DEPLOYABLEA non-player entity with a unique health pool., with the sole exception of Domina's Panopticon, which is still considered a Barrier.

Terrain-Like
Terrain-like deployables interact with most abilities as if they were terrain. For example, other deployables can be deployed on them, and abilities like Grappling Claw can attach to them. They can block line of sight for area of effect abilities, including most effects that would pierce barriers.
