Melee attacks are attacks that take effect only within a short range of the hero, generally within arm's reach. Melee attacks pierce barriers and affect all enemies in range.

Quick Melee

Most heroes have access to a quick melee attack. Quick melee does 40 damage, and has a cooldown of 1 second. This cooldown starts as soon as the attack is used and is not affected by the melee being interrupted. The attack is active for 0.128 seconds, and has a range of 2.5 meters. It also applies a very small knockback upon hit.

Quick melee is unavailable to heroes who have a melee weapon equipped, except Vendetta and Ramattra, who can use quick melee in addition to Palantine fang Palatine Fang and Pummel Icon Pummel respectively. All other melee weapons, including melee attacks granted through transformation abilities, will use the Hero's unique melee weapon if quick melee is inputted.

All heroes, except Wrecking Ball, Sombra, Symmetra, Baptiste, and Lifeweaver can interrupt their melee to use their ultimates.
