Passive abilities are abilities that either activate without the player's interaction; or do not directly affect the game world, but only the movement or state of the hero or their abilities. When passive abilities are controlled, they are usually activated using the Space bar. All hero-specific movement passive abilities are disabled by Sombra's Hack and the Hindered status effect.
In Overwatch 2, every hero receives a role passive, unique to each role. Some of them get unique passive abilities on top of that, which are often core to the play style or capabilities of the hero.

Trivia[]
- Although not officially listed as passive abilities, Anran, Genji, and Tracer have a higher base movement speed of 6.0m/s, rather than the 5.5m/s that other heroes have under normal circumstances, making them move approximately 9.1% faster than the other heroes. This is not negated by Hack.
- Lúcio's Crossfade acts similarly to a passive ability, as at least one of his songs will be active at all times unless he is Hacked.
